Gurmat
The motive is to provide knowledge of Sikh history and Gurbani. The focus is on connecting students with Sikh History, Gurbani, and the value system based on Guru Granth Sahib Ji. These classes are organized based on a child’s age. To connect youth to Sikhi in a present-day teaching environment. Engage in the Glorious Sikh heritage and history to instill the Sikhi Spirt of Chardi Kala.
Also, involving stories that relate the tales of sacrifice, courage, compassion, and humility, instill in children what their ancestors stood for and display how great their sacrifice was. By Gurbani to reinforce these Sakhees, our hope is to bring kids closer to their Guru by remembering the path forged by those before us.
LIST OF BOOKS
Level 1 Gurmat Studies
Introduction to Guru Sahibs, 5 Piaray, 4 Sahibzaday, 40 Mukte, 5 Kakaars, 5 Takhats, etc. Gur Mantar, Mool Mantar, and basic Gurdwara etiquette are described in simple language with appealing artwork.
Level 2 Gurmat Studies
Book 2 contains concise Sakhies of each Guru Sahib that is paired with the basic Sikh values of Kirt Karni, Naam Japna, and Vand Ke Shakna. It builds on the basics of Sikhi discussed in Level 1 and includes fill-in-the-blank questions, quizzes, and word searches to help students retain the details of the Sakhies and key facts.
Level 3 Gurmat Studies
In Books 3 to 6, pre-teen to adolescent readers is introduced to Guru Sahiban and prominent Sikhs through Sakhies. Each Sakhi concludes with a key Gurmat message that allows students to correlate the message of the Sakhi to the present-day world. Level 3 book is dedicated to Guru Nanak Dev Sahib Ji.
Level 4 Gurmat Studies
This book focuses on the legacy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s core Sikh values, lived and instilled by Guru Angad Dev Ji, Guru Amar Das Ji, Guru Ram Das Ji, and Guru Arjun Dev Ji. Each Sakhi concludes with a key Gurmat message that allows students to correlate the message of the Sakhi to the present-day world.
Level 5 Gurmat Studies
Book 5 focuses on the legacy of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s core Sikh values, lived and instilled by Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji, Guru Har Rai Sahib Ji, Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji, and Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Captivating and detailed accounts from Sikh history encourage readers to live a meaningful life through Seva, Simran, and Miri-Piri.
Level 6 Gurmat Studies
The lives and legacy of Guru Sahibs, Sahibzadeys, and Sikhs help instill youth with a core Sikh spirit of ‘Charhdi Kala’. This blissful state of mind allows one to face hardships without submitting to social pressures. The Guru Jot that came to this earth as Guru Nanak Dev Ji concluded Its legacy with Guru Gobind Singh Ji and continues to stay with us forever as Adi Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
